Civic organizations vs businesses, Verified vs Official.
What it is
- An Organization is a civic or community identity — schools, libraries, government, public safety, nonprofits, and similar groups.
- A Business is a commercial Place listing you can claim and manage. Organizations are not a second business directory.
- Verified Organization means AroundMadison verified the organization’s identity. It does not mean every post or event is Official.
- Official content arrived through an authorized first-party channel for that Organization — separate from identity verification.
How to use it
- Find Organizations from Discover → Organizations, Search (including acronyms like MJCPL), or links from related Places.
- Follow an Organization to see public updates in your Following feed. Unfollow anytime from the same profile button.
