Practical expectations for members — not a substitute for the Terms of Use.

AroundMadison works when neighbors treat each other with respect. Accounts are for people 18 and older. These guidelines are practical expectations, not a legal contract.

• Be truthful. Don't post scams, impersonation, spam, manipulation, or deliberately false emergencies.
• No harassment, hate, threats, violence advocacy, or doxxing.
• Protect privacy. Be careful with personal information, photographs, and locations — especially when content involves minors (schools, youth sports, family events). Account holders are 18+; content may still discuss community topics involving minors responsibly.
• Keep Marketplace listings honest — no stolen goods, illegal items, or fraud.
• Messaging must follow the same respect rules. Report harassment, scams, and abuse.
• Community confirmation, popularity, likes, comments, or reports do not make something factually verified. Official/verified labels keep their product meaning only.
• Businesses may participate transparently; paid/promoted placement must stay labeled when offered.
• Events and Places participation should be accurate and respectful of real-world venues and organizers.
• Moderators may hide content, warn, suspend, or ban accounts. AroundMadison does not promise to review every post before it appears.
